Hello, my name is Darin Anthony Johnson. I was born in Akron, Ohio, and I currently live there. I had previously lived in the Houston, TX, area for about 20 years.
I come from a long lineage of Pastors and ministers. I knew at a young age that God was calling me to the ministry, and I thought I knew what that meant, but unfortunately, I did not. Even though I accepted the call in 1994 as a student at Bayridge Christian College and was very active in ministry, I was not all-in 100% and soon began to love the world more than God. I began struggling with drugs and alcohol, which soon became an addiction that I struggled with for over 25 years until my world came crashing in, and I hit rock bottom in 2013.
It was not until February 11, 2019, that I finally understood what it meant to be called by God.
I have been committed to serving God ever since. I believe that I have been called to serve those dealing with the ministry model of Celebrate Recovery: hurts, habits, and hang-ups.
I am also currently enrolled in classes at MACU with the end game of obtaining my Master's in Christian Counseling with a concentration in addiction counseling. I am very active on social media, and with a campaign of transparency, I try to do my part in planting and watering those that God has placed in my circle of influence. I am also grateful to have reunited and married my college sweetheart and best friend, Valeria Johnson. I have been blessed with 2 girls and a stepson. My third child, Cameron, was murdered in 2021. I am an audio-video specialist by trade, and I enjoy video editing and hope one day to make it a career. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
